WHAT’S HAPPENING AT JACK JONES?
17th Mar 2010
Biggest news this week is that Jack Jones are participating in the “SPIN” to Cure Diabetes Fundraising event, to be held on Friday, May the 7th in the Queen Street Mall. Our aim is to raise as much money as we can and “SPIN” as far as we can on the day!
All monies raised at this event will be invested in medical research to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
What is type 1 diabetes?
Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease that is NOT caused by diet or lifestyle and can affect absolutely anyone, at any age. Currently around 140,000 Australian children and adults live with this incurable, chronic disease and five more people are diagnosed every day.
While insulin keeps people with type 1 diabetes alive, it is not a cure. Having diabetes can still cause them serious health complications such as blindness, heart disease and kidney failure.
Why are we getting involved?
My Brother-in-law Nathan, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, 7 years ago in his mid-20’s, without warning. He was healthy, fit and extremely active, competing in mountain bike rallies and surfing almost every day of the week. Nathan now needs up to six insulin injections every day, just to stay alive, as well as multiple finger prick blood sugar tests. He has had to reassess every aspect of his life, end a high-profile career and now has to measure and think about every portion of food and drink that he consumes.
What’s happening on May 7th?
Simon Orton from Jack Jones will be joining Nathan and 3 others on May the 7th, to “SPIN for a Cure”! They will be riding as a team and each have 8 minutes to ride as far as they can on a SPIN Bike.....but there’s a catch! We have to fund-raise $2000 initially to be eligible to ride on the 7th and this is where we need your help to make it to the Queen Street Mall.
Please support our effort and Simon’s big SPIN in May, by clicking on the link below and making a donation to this fund-raiser on-line. A receipt will be automatically generated.

Thanking you in advance for your donations and support for a cause that is working to minimise the impact on families like mine!

Jack Jones passionate about sustainability
2nd Nov 2008
The team at Jack Jones are passionate about sustainability and owners Simon Orton and Nat Evans ensured that they minimised their carbon footprint during the construction of their new studio. To do this they chose to use non-VOC paint products from Roc-cote, install recycled car tyre rubber flooring and use interesting design elements converting reclaimed landfill products including cardboard, furniture and office furniture. If these concepts interest you, drop in to the Studio at Albion and take a look for yourself.
